Chris Towe was born with an unknown lung disease that allowed his immune system to treat his lungs as foreign– thus attacking his lungs to destroy them.  Medical treatment to slow the progression of his lung disease began early in Chris’ life and continues today – 23 years later.
Chris requires oxygen on a continuous basis in order to live, and has been placed on the list for a double lung transplant at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.

Meanwhile, only a year ago, the trouble making gene in this disease was finally identified and received its’ name, COPA syndrome.  This discovery was a moment of celebration among the researchers and medical community who have fought for answers for so long and for so many.  Chris is not the only patient with this disease!

Chris’ mother, Molly Plant, is determined to fight for more research, innovative treatments and community support for those who, before this, have had voices that were only whispers for help.  Molly will shout with all the strength of a mother’s lungs to make a difference and represent her son and other patients with COPA syndrome.

Carrie Muchaw, owner of YOTB, has been working with Christopher and decided that Yogapalooza will be held to raise money for the COPA foundation!
